Payson Canyon

We decided last minute to take a quick camping trip Thursday night after work up Payson Canyon. We stopped by the store, got some fixings to make foil dinners (boy were they yum!) and packed our car full of camping gear. It took us about 15 minutes to pack and we were off! We found a great campground, really secluded camping spot and set up. This is the point where my husband turned into a boy scout again! He built a great fire for us to make out foil dinners and kept it going all night! The weather was perfect and we enjoyed a late night of relaxing in fron of the fire, playing Phase 10 and eating some Jiffy Pop popcorn (mmm)!

Funny story: the next morning after a great breakfast of eggs, bacon and tator tots :) we headed down to the lake right next to our campsite with our hot coco. Its a little fishing lake with lots of medium sized rainbow trout. We were walking around the lake and decided to put our feet in to cool off (it was already about 80 degrees at 10 in the morning). While Braden was standing there, there were a bunch of trout swimming around his feet. He saw some string on the sand nearby and when I handed it to him, we realized there was a 3 pronged hook on the end. He first put a dead dragonfly on the end and made a makeshift pole with this stick but then the dragonfly fell off so he put some seaweed on it. Lo and behold, HE CAUGHT A FISH! It was the most hilarious sight I have ever seen, all of a sudden he comes running out of the water with this fish flapping on the end of this 4 foot fishing line! The funniest part was that there were somef ishers nearby who had all the right gear and had been fishing all morning and had yet to catch anything! After we got it cleaned and gutted we stuck it in our cooler and its still sitting in our fridge. We'll eat it tonight!
